I’d blog and tell you about the eventful week we’ve had, but the estrogen is making me feel like a shell of a person who doesn’t care about blogging. I have zero motivation for just about anything, including writing. So instead I think I’ll just sit here and stare at the lovely lanterns Randy’s parents (and brother and sister) brought over to help bring a bit of brightness to our lives during this dim period. They are helping.

I’d Blog…..
Hand Sewn: Photo #301
Bad News: I was sick today and spent most of the day in bed.
Good News: My bed rest gave me time to finally take the leap and try hand sewing a quilt binding. I am tickled and amazed at the results. It will take me like four times as long as machine binding but its SO worth it. I can’t stop staring at it.
Perfect Strangers: Photo #263
Today is Day 17 of The Month of Living Healthfully.
My sister, Kelli and I felt like we could both use some lazy time together so she came over and brought Seasons One and Two of Perfect Strangers. We lounged on the couch watching a snippet of our childhood (which was, incidentally, not quite as funny the second time around) and ate snacks. I ate a Greek yogurt parfait while Kelli brought her own snacks because she knew we “probably wouldn’t have anything good” this month. I think the evening did us both some good.
Snowday: Photo #253
Today is Day Seven of The Month of Living Healthfully.
The sparkly snow piling up outside our windows today reminded me of these “snowballs” I made a couple days ago to use as Christmas tree ornaments next year (I know! I’m so on top of things!) The prospect of a snow day still thrills me and it always seems full of promise and hope at first. By mid-afternoon I’ve usually gone a little stir-crazy and start feeling lazy. Today was no exception – especially since Randy and I decided not to venture out to the gym. I went back and forth between guilt for missing my workout for the first time this month and rationalization about the importance of staying safe (a cop-out, since I have plenty of work-out videos and a nice stationary bike here at the house). In the end, we didn’t do a lick of exercise - but we did eat a very low calorie vegetable soup for dinner and my rationalizing mind thinks that is close enough.
Joyeux Noel: Photo #240
Randy and I were so tired (and a bit Christmassed out) that we climbed into bed with The Weens (our current pet name for Zipper) at 8:00pm and settled into the big slice of comfort and joy that is Muppet Family Christmas - a sweet little 42 minute film from 1987 in which all the Muppets and the Sesame Street gang descend upon Fozzy Bear’s mother’s farmhouse for Christmas AND featuring a live-action cameo by Jim Henson himself (perfection). Sadly, the film is out of print right now and an unopened DVD will run you at least $64, although you can score a VHS copy for around $7. (Ours is VHS and its the only reason we still have a VCR.) Everything about it makes me happy – from the Christmas Turkey trying to convince The Swedish Chef that Big Bird would make a great Christmas dinner to Animal answering the phone “Peace on earth, give me presents”. I can’t think of a better way to close out Christmas day.
